Tough third quarter results in loss to Golden Hawks

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech University women's basketball program continues to look for their first win, but also continue to come close as they fell 59-43 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday night.
 
Ontario Tech had the game within 10 in the fourth quarter after scoring only six points in the third, but unfortunately their comeback attempt in the final 10 minutes came up short.
 
They will now wrap up the weekend against the Waterloo Warriors, which the Ridgebacks' Black History Month kick-off game. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
  Aprille Whyne (Mont-Laurier, Que.) had a big night for the Ridgebacks as she dropped a season-high 13 points for Ontario Tech off the bench.
• Brianna Iannazzo had a game-high 16 points for Laurier.
  • Ontario Tech outrebounded Laurier 38-36, with no players reaching double-digits in boards.
• Maya Day had a game-high four steals for the Golden Hawks, while Hadeza Ismaila (Ottawa, Ont.) and Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) had a team-high three for the Ridgebacks.
