After securing a playoff spot in the leadup to their final weekend of the season the Laurentian Voyageurs Men's Soccer team looked to create some momentum going into the postseason as they traveled to TMU on Saturday in a matchup against the Bold.
With this being their first matchup of the season neither side was looking to give the other the edge early on with the game being very tightly contested. However at the 15th minute mark it was TMU who got on the board first. The goal was scored by Justin Santos who calmly slotted his chance into the back of Laurentian net fishing off a great move led by captain Luca Di Marco.
After the 1-0 not changing for the rest of the first half the second half was more of the same with neither side being able to really assert their dominance on the game. With this struggle to create chances the Voyageurs knew they needed to be the next ones to score if they wanted any chance at getting a result in the match.
It was the last 17 minutes of the game though that really saw Laurentian let the game slip through their fingers as in the 73rd minute Santos scored his second giving the Bold a 2-0 lead before the home team were able to put another 2 past the Voyageurs in the 84th and 88th to finish the game in a lopsided TMU win.
The Voyageurs will cap off their regular season Sunday afternoon as they travel to face the high flying Toronto Varsity Blues currently sitting in 2nd place in the OUA East standings. The game is set to kick off at 3:15 at Toronto's Varsity Stadium.
