After seeing their mini two-year banner streak snapped a year ago, the Western Mustangs men’s rowers reclaimed the top spot at the 2018 event, with captain Curtis Ames playing a key role.
Burlington, Ont. – Curtis Ames has been named IG Wealth Management Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Peak Performer for the period ending October 28, 2018.

After seeing their mini two-year banner streak snapped a year ago, the Western Mustangs men’s rowers reclaimed the top spot at the 2018 event, with captain Curtis Ames playing a key role.
Ames rowed masterfully in his races for the purple ponies, bringing home a pair of gold medals for his efforts. The third-year rower earned his first medal with partner Ryan Clegg in the men’s pairs, before teaming up in the eights to help guide Western to gold in one the event’s marquee races.
Western’s team total was 462 on the day, ahead of silver-medalist Brock (339), with Ames right at the heart of the team’s production to help them earn their third banner in four seasons.
