MALE: Nolan Anderson (London, Ont.) – 3rd yr. – Western Mustangs – Baseball
The third-year business student completed a rare feat in the second half of Western’s doubleheader on Sunday against the York Lions. After pitching 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, Anderson hit a walk-off home run for the Mustangs, which also credited him as the winning pitcher in Western's 7-5 victory.
Western went 3-1 in its four games last week, with Anderson going 5-for-14 at the plate with 5 RBI, four runs scored, and five walks during that span.
FEMALE: Alex Rodkin (Whitby, Ont.) – 1st yr. – Ryerson Rams – Soccer
Ryerson picked up its first ever win against the Queen’s Gaels in women’s soccer thanks in part to a comeback led by Rodkin.
The rookie striker scored two goals in the final two minutes of the game against Queen’s, propelling Ryerson to a 3-2 victory, their first ever victory over a team that it’s been competing against since 1986.
Rodkin continued her great play the following day as well, scoring both Rams goals in a 2-1 win against RMC.
