Toronto's Stafford named ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS Female Athlete of the Week
TORONTO (CIS) – Cross country runner Lucia Stafford from the University of Toronto and soccer player Dominic Russo from the University of Calgary are the ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS female and male athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 25, 2016.

Stafford, a first-year engineering student from Toronto, won the Western Invitational on Saturday in her debut for the Varsity Blues. The rookie and younger sister of 2016 Olympian Gabriela Stafford, finished the race in 17:04.5, nearly five seconds ahead of Katelyn Ayers of Guelph.
Cross country runner Colleen Wilson of Dalhousie, soccer player Jasmin Dhanda of UBC and rugby player Fabiola Forteza of Laval were also nominated for the women's award.
Russo, a fifth-year arts and business major from Calgary, scored four of the Dinos' six goals over the weekend. The veteran forward recorded a hat-trick in Calgary's 4-0 win Saturday over UNBC before netting the game-winner to go along with an assist in a 2-1 victory Sunday against Victoria. Russo ranks second in the nation with 11 goals on the season.
Cross country runner Scott Donald of StFX, and soccer players Lucas MacNaughton of Toronto and Yanis Zoraï of UQTR were the other male nominees.
