The need for results was urgent, and on Wednesday, the Marauders found one to their liking. McMaster rode a single goal to victory in St. Catharines, defeating the Brock Badgers 1-0 for their first victory of the OUA season.
Jessie Faber had the only goal of the match for the Marauders, while rookie Deanna Persico kept Mac's first clean sheet of 2016.
The result moved McMaster into seventh position in the OUA West standings, with a total of five points on the season.
In what evolved into a fairly even contest, it was the veteran striker Faber who gained the crucial measure of separation for the visitors in the 37th minute, with her first strike of the season.
From there, Persico and the Mac defence held Badgers at bay, and took a much-needed three points from the road, which the Marauders will undoubtedly look to build upon as they continue their road trip this coming weekend.
