HAMILTON, Ont. - Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce that they have partnered with Pan Am/Toronto 2015 and the City of Hamilton to host the 2014 OUA Men's and Women's Soccer Final Four at the new Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton held November 1 & 2, 2014.
This marks the first time that both OUA Soccer Final Fours have been played at a pre-determined site and the first time both the men's and women's events will share the same venue on the same weekend.
"This is an exciting opportunity to not only showcase the OUA soccer championships as one unified event, but to demonstrate the capabilities of a brand new state of the art facility," said Bryan Crawford, Executive Director of the OUA. "We expect a first-class event and I know OUA fans will be treated to some excellent soccer while watching the game in a world class venue."
The OUA will take over Tim Hortons Field on Saturday, November 1st, with the women's semifinals going at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. followed by the men's semifinals kicking off at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Championship Sunday will see the women's bronze medal game go at 10:00 a.m. while the men's bronze match will start at 12:30 p.m. Gold medal action begins with the women kicking off at 3:00 p.m. with the men capping the two-day event with their championship match set for 5:30 p.m. on November 2nd.
In addition to the OUA title, the teams who compete in their respective gold medal games automatically earn a berth into the 2014 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national championship events held November 6-9 in Charlottetown, PEI (men's) and Quebec City, QC (women's).
Tim Hortons Field is a new multi-purpose stadium which is home to the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats. It will also act as the soccer venue for the 2015 Pan American Games being hosted by Toronto and the surrounding region.
The OUA will announce further details about the final four events including youth clinics and community outreach programs in August.
