Two former Golden Hawks assist in Canada Pan Am women's baseball victories
TORONTO, Ont. (July 21, 2015) – Katherine Psota and Ashley Stephenson, two alumni of the Golden Hawks women’s hockey program, joined Team Canada and are shining with the red-and-white team in the preliminary rounds of women’s baseball in the 2015 Pan Am Games.
TORONTO, Ont. (July 21, 2015) – Katherine Psota and Ashley Stephenson, two alumni of the Golden Hawks women's hockey program, joined Team Canada and are shining with the red-and-white team in the preliminary rounds of women's baseball in the 2015 Pan Am Games.
Team Canada hit off their preliminaries with a convincing 13-1 victory over Cuba. Psota, who plays first base, contributed an RBI in her only at-bat as she came into the game as a pinch hitter while Stephenson, who started the game at third base, went 2-for-5 at the plate scoring a run for the red and white.
Last night, the women took on Venezuela and dominated again, this time earning a 9-3 win. Stephenson was 1-for-4 in the contest, scoring two runs.
Canada, who are competing in Ajax for the duration of the competition, has two more preliminary games before medal rounds begin:
- vs. Puerto Rico on July 22nd at 3:05 p.m
- vs. United States on July 24th at 7:05 p.m
