WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOLIDAY ROUNDUP: Lancers go undefeated at Holiday Classic

WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team went undefeated at the Lancer Holiday Classic which took place from December 28 to 30th and involved teams from three of the four CIS conferences.
The women opened up the tournament with a 66-39 triumph over the Canada West's Fraser Valley Cascades on Saturday. Korissa Williams and Jocelyn LaRocque each tallied a game-high 12 points, while Jessica Clemencon added 10 points and a team-best eight rebounds.
Windsor continued their success the following day, topping UQAM 76-49. Clemencon had a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds. Miah-Marie Langlois notched 17 points, eight assists and six boards for the Lancers who shot an impressive 47.1% from the field.
The hosts knocked off the Cascades 63-43 in a re-match of the two squads on Monday to close out the Holiday Classic. The big-three combined for 46 points, led by Langlois who garnered a contest-high 20. Williams and Clemencon added 13 apiece to help Windsor sweep their tournament match-ups.
In other Lancer Holiday Classic action, the Cascades grabbed an 82-66 win over Guelph to finish with a 1-2 record. Fraser Valley's Sarah Wierks recorded a team-high 16 points as four Cascade players reached double-digits in the victory while Kate MacTavish dropped 26 in a losing cause for the Gryphons.
Guelph fell to Fraser Valley after having defeated UQAM 66-64 on the first day of the tournament. MacTavish picked up 23 points and nine rebounds while teammate Katelyn Yallin added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lancers return to conference action in the New Year next Wednesday, January 8 when they head to Waterloo, Ont. to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m.
Windsor is back at the St. Denis Centre on Wednesday, January 15 to host the Guelph Gryphons.
