SWIMMING ROUNDUP: Ontario Cup
The Warrior swimmers were at the University of Toronto this past weekend for a challenge against the top teams in the OUA. UofT, McMaster and Western all brought strong squads to the competition along with other OUA schools Laurentian, Brock, Laurier and Ottawa U. Waterloo's swimmers were in tough to get scoring swims in this environment but a few really stood out.
The only winner of the meet was Josie Andres (Thorndale) who won the 50 butterfly with excellent closing speed. Josie was also third in the 100 fly the day before. Graeme Kemp (Waterloo) showed that he is rounding into lifetime best form with a third place 100 back, second place 200 IM and 200 breast and best ever 100 fly. Rookie Danyon Chu (Markham) boosted a fast 50 and 100 free. Another rookie, Brandon Van Wyk (Brantford), moved onto the Warrior all time top 10 list with a 28.75 50 back performance.
The Warriors are back racing this coming weekend at Brock and Laurier as their final tuneups for the OUA championships now only a few weeks away.
