Western wins fourth consecutive CURC Women's Championship

WELLAND, Ont. – It was déjà vu all over again as the Western Mustangs women's rowing team won their fourth consecutive Canadian University Rowing Championship on Sunday afternoon.
The win adds to the Mustangs already impressive season, having won their fourth consecutive OUA women's banner last week.
Western came out on top in a hard-fought competition on Sunday, edging out the second place UBC Thunderbirds by only three points, 118 to 115. The Victoria Vikes claimed the final spot on the podium with 84 points.
The Mustangs took fourth on the men's side, finishing the event with 82 points, just six behind the bronze medalist Vikes. UBC took the top spot in the men's competition with a score of 108, while Trent came in second with 99 points.
The purple and white finished in the top three in each event on the women's side, taking gold in the lightweight 4+, lightweight 2x, and women's 1x. Western added two silver medals to their haul with second place finishes in the women's 2- and lightweight 1x, along with a bronze in the women's 8+.
Western's men's team finished with a pair of silver medals, taking second in both the men's 2- and the lightweight 4+.
