Golden Hawks blank Gyphons 2-0
GUELPH, Ont. (September 22, 2015) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men's soccer team (3-2-2) picked up their second consecutive victory on Tuesday as they walked off the field with a 2-0 win against the Guelph Gryphons.
GUELPH, Ont. (September 22, 2015) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men's soccer team (3-2-2) picked up their second consecutive victory on Tuesday as they walked off the field with a 2-0 win against the Guelph Gryphons.
Sitting at a 0-0 scoreline at the end of the first half, the Hawks made a quick turn around in the second when Laurier athlete of the week Niklas Bauer of Newmarket, Ont., netted the first goal of the game, his 7th of the season and fifth in the last two matches.
Shortly after, Nikola Miokovic of Kitchener, Ont., scored his second goal of the season to give Laurier some insurance.
From there, the Hawks shut down the Gryphons to walk away with their third win of the season.
Keeper Stephan Brudiu of Kitchener, Ont., earned his second win of the year as he stopped both shots he faced.
With another win under their cleats, the Hawks move onto a match on home turf at University Stadium against Brock on Friday September 25. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m.
