TORONTO, Ont. - Francesco Bruno (Toronto, Ont.) netted two goals to power the No. 1-ranked York Lions to a 4-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday afternoon.
Bruno got the Lions on the scoreboard in the seventh minute, and followed it up with his second goal eight minutes later. The Gryphons broke York goaltender Alim Karim's (Scarborough, Ont.) shutout attempt in the 32nd minute when midfielder Stephen Johnstone (Ottawa, Ont.) tallied his first goal of the season.
York nursed a 2-1 lead into the second half when Luca Forno hit the back of the net in the 55th minute. Branko Majsiorovic (Toronto, Ont.) added one for good measure at the 64-minute mark.
Karim made five saves in the victory. York is now 5-0 on the young season.

KINGSTON, Ont. – Mike Arnold (London, Ont.) was the loan scorer helping the Gaels to a 1-0 win over Royal Military College (RMC) Wednesday evening at Richardson Stadium.
Arnold’s goal which came in the 61st minute was fired from just beyond the key line, beating RMC tender Jeremy Whalen (Halifax, N.S.). RMC battled hard to stay in the contest and in the final seconds forced the Gaels back into their own goal crease and narrowly missed tying the game.
With the victory the Gaels remain undefeated against RMC in regular season play since the Paladins joined the OUA men’s soccer in 2004. Queen’s now moves to a perfect 9-0-0 record against their Kingston rivals.
Sean Martin-Courtright (Calgary, Alta.), was the netminder recording his first shutout of the season.
