The Lancer men's hockey team defeated the No. 1 seed Ryerson Rams 3-1 on Saturday night in the OUA quarter-finals.
With the win, the No. 6 seed Lancers sweep the Rams 2-0 in the best-of-three series and advance to the OUA semifinals against the York Lions.
After a scoreless first period, Ryerson's Matt Mistele opened the scoring at 5:52 of the middle frame to put the hosts up 1-0. With only a few minutes remaining in the period, Justice Dundas accepted a beautiful pass from Scott Prier and fire a shot past Ryerson goaltender Charlie Graham to tie the game at one heading into the intermission.
Following a great save by Blake Richard in the opening thirty seconds of the third period, the Lancers came flying down the ice toward Graham. Blake Blondeel came up on Graham's left side, and just as it looked like he was about to shoot on net, passed the puck over to Mike Christou who caught Graham out of position and put the Lancers up 2-1 with 19 minutes to play in regulation.
Christou would add his second of the post season on an empty net in the final minute to secure the victory and the series win.
Richard continued to be outstanding in net for the Blue & Gold turning aside 32 shots to earn the victory while Graham finished the game with 23 saves in the loss.
