TORONTO – In a battle of nationally ranked teams, the Ryerson Rams men’s basketball team picked up their fourth win of the season, defeating the No. 7 ranked Windsor Lancers by a score of 84-79 on Friday night.
Rams point guard Jahmal Jones (Mississauga, Ont.) set a new career-high with 31 points on the night, shooting an efficient 10-for-15 from the floor including a perfect 4-for-4 from three point range, to lead Ryerson to the victory.
In a tight contest from start to finish, the Rams found success by penetrating the heart of the Lancers defence and taking the ball to the rim.

Leading by four heading into the fourth quarter, the Rams gave up the first bucket in the final frame but a three-pointer from Jean-Victor Mukama (Hamilton, Ont.) swung the momentum right back in the Rams favour and Ryerson went on to open up a 14 point lead with just over four and a half minutes to play.

Carleton 83 @ McMaster 72
The McMaster men's basketball team went toe to toe with the CIS Champion Carleton Ravens, but fell to the visitors 83-72 on the strength of a 44 point performance from Raven guard Phil Scrubb.
The Marauders played one their best games and gave the home fans a terrific effort but had no answer for Scrubb, the national team player, who showed why he has won two consecutive CIS Player of the Year awards.
It was evident from the start that Scrubb was in a zone and he scored 18 points in the first quarter as Carleton jumped out to an early 32-19 lead.
But in the second quarter, McMaster started to find the range and Scrubb had to sit down with two fouls. Marauders Joe Rocca, Taylor Black and Nathan Pelech made key shots from behind the arc, while Nathan McCarthy provided some inside scoring and the Maroon chiseled the lead down to a single basket at 44-42 by halftime.
With the Maroon faithful in attendance fully engaged and loud, the Marauders came out in the third quarter and actually took the lead 48-46. The two teams exchanged the lead for the rest of the quarter and after three periods, the Carleton lead was still only two points at 59-57.
The pivotal fourth quarter saw Scrubb emerge again, and with his team up by four points with about four minutes left he drained an extremely long three-pointer to create a seven-point cushion on McMaster. The Marauders refused to quit but couldn't stop Scrubb who scored on three straight possessions to keep his team in control as time ran out.
The Marauders got a terrific game from Nathan McCarthy who led the team with 13 points and was chosen the BIG MAC player of the game. Taylor Black finished with 12 points, while Rohan Boney added 11 on a perfect 5 for 5 shooting effort. Scrubb's 44 got him player of the game honours for Carleton, which also got 11 points from Thomas Scrubb.

Ottawa 100 @ McMaster 85
It had the intensity of a playoff game but the Ottawa Gee-Gees used a fourth quarter explosion and a huge game from John Berhanemeskel to defeat the McMaster men's basketball team 100-85.
The loss was the second straight for the Marauders and drops their OUA record to 3 and 3.
McMaster held the lead after one quarter 29-23 but behind some sharp-shooting from Berhanemeskel and the Gee-Gees, Ottawa was able to take the lead at intermission by the score of 50-48.
The third quarter saw the teams play pretty even and Ottawa was ahead by three points at 70-67 heading to the final stanza.
The fourth quarter was not kind to the Marauders as several breakdowns in transition defense allowed Ottawa to score some easy baskets. Then Berhanemeskel started to heat up and like the previous night, the Marauders had no answer and Ottawa coasted to the win by scoring 30 points in the quarter to McMaster's 18.
The Marauders did themselves no favours by only making 13 of 25 free throw attempts for the game and committing several costly turnovers at key moments.
Berhanemeskel finished with 38, including 20 in the second half and was Ottawa's player of the game. McMaster was paced by Taylor Black who scored 17 to take player of the game for the Maroon.

Queen’s 61 @ Waterloo 57
The Waterloo men's basketball team did all they could to provide the large think pink crowd with a win on Saturday night but fell just short to the Queen's Gaels. The Warriors remain winless at 0-5 on the young season.
Queen's shot 36.1% from the field compared to Waterloo's 34.9 but the difference would be Queen's three point shooting as they hit seven from beyond the arc while Waterloo was a lowly 3-for-24 from three point territory. Waterloo also struggled on the boards for a second straight net with Queen's out rebounding the home side 50 to 23.
Greg Faulkner led all scorers with 18 points going 7-for-18 from the field knocking down three 3-pointers. Sukhpreet Singh chipped in with 14 points while Nikola Misljencevic had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
