Varsity Blues and Gryphons advance to OUA Field Hockey Championship finals

The Blues quickly got on the board in the third minute when second-year forward Anna McNeil (Sutton, Ont.) scored to make it 1-0 Toronto. 2014 OUA All-Star Alison Lee (Mississauga, Ont.) would extend Toronto's lead to 2-0 off a stroke just two minutes later. McNeill and Lee would each add another as the Blues built themselves a commanding 4-0 before the end of the half.
Late in the game, Gabriella Permell would get in on the scoring off a penalty corner and sealed the victory for the Blues by a score of 5-0.
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues will now face the winner of Guelph Grpyhons/Queen's Gaels in tomorrow's OUA gold-medal match at 12:00 p.m. at Cassie Campbell Community Centre in Brampton, Ont.
Earlier in the day, the Waterloo Warriors defeated the Dalhousie Tigers by a score of 5-0 in the 5th/6th place game. The Warriors attack was led by midfielder Stephanie Snydor (Waterloo, Ont.) who scored four of Waterloo's five goals. Snydor was named to the OUA all-star team for a second consecutive season and led her team in the regular season as well, scoring five of the team's eight goals.

Ally Chute (Greenfield Park, Que.) scored twice and Morgan Kelley (Milton, Ont.) turned aside every shot she faced as the Guelph Gryphons defeated the Queen's Gaels 3-0 to advance to the OUA Field Hockey Championship.
Guelph will now take on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in the final on Sunday at Cassie Campbell Community Centre in Brampton, Ont.
Forward Ally Chute opened the scoring for the Gryphons in the 12th minute. Chute, a 2-time all-star led the Gryphons with 11 goals in the regular season. Ciara Condon (London, Ont.) would extend the Gryphons lead to 2-0 in the 40th minute before Chute would add another and ultimately put the game out of reach.
The Blues and Gryphons met twice during the regular season with Toronto winning both close matchups, 2-1 on September 21st and 3-2 on October 5th.
Guelph and Toronto are the perennial powerhouses in OUA field hockey with either team having won the championship since 2004.
With the loss, the Queen's Gaels will face the York Lions on Sunday morning in the bronze medal game.
