The game of football is experiencing unprecedented popularity and growth in all parts of our country and we’re thrilled to see that more people than ever are enjoying the game at venues across our province.
However, this strong growth has created the potential for a shortage of trained officials at the amateur levels. If you love the game of football and are looking for a way to be more involved in the game in your community, you’ve come to the right place. Ontario University Athletics has partnered with the Canadian Football League to recruit student-athletes like YOU to join the ranks of Football officials in Ontario.
Simply click on either of the links at the bottom of this page to connect with one of the many local Football Officials’ Associations in Ontario, or to connect with Darren Hackwood at the CFL to find out how you can start officiating minor football games in as little as one day.
Your local Officials’ Association run training
seminars that you can take part in to receive you Level 1
certification for little to no cost. After receiving your
Level 1 you will be able to work games at the Atom, Pee Wee and
Bantam levels in your area to get your “feet wet”, and
if that works out, you may move on to the High School level and
beyond, depending on your ability and your desire to advance.
You never know, with the right amount of training and time on the
field, you might just join one of the crews at the CFL level at
some point in the future. In the meantime, we can assure you that
you’ll meet some exceptional people and have a very rewarding
time officiating some great amateur football in your community.
