Ottawa self-discloses ineligible player for 2018 football season opener
TORONTO – U SPORTS announced today that the Ottawa Gee-Gees football team will forfeit the results of their first game of the 2018 season due to the participation of an ineligible player.
After being self-disclosed by Ottawa, the eligibility violation was reviewed and verified, and as a result, the game in question will be forfeited.
The Gee-Gees record is not affected, as the forfeited game, which took place on August 26th, was a loss – a 39-21 defeat at the hands of the Laurier Golden Hawks. The final score and all accompanying team and player statistics will remain unchanged, with the exception of the ineligible player.
Beyond this first game, the player is now an eligible student-athlete for the remainder of the season.
