60 Word Blitz - A pre-game look at Week 6's games
Toronto Varsity Blues v. Windsor Lancers
Alumni Field
September 29 @ 1:00pm
Both sides are fighting for their first win. Windsor will look to keep riding the golden arm of Sam Girard, the OUA’s leader in passing yards per game, while reigning Special Teams Player of the Week Daniel Diodati and the Blues will need to come out firing in a battle to determine which side remains winless after Week 6.
Guelph Gryphons v. Laurier Golden Hawks
University Stadium
September 29 @ 1:00pm
Guelph and Laurier are both coming off one-point losses and will look to make a statement this Saturday going head-to-head. The Gryphons will need another masterful performance from Theo Landers, while the Golden Hawks will once again be expecting big things from their high-flying offence. Based on last week’s scores, a close match-up seems very much on the horizon.
Ottawa Gee-Gees v. Carleton Ravens
TD Place
September 29 @ 1:00pm
Two words – Panda Game. The No. 5 Ravens have been led by QB Michael Arruda, who’s coming off a 352-yard performance, and he’ll hope to be a difference-maker under centre once again. Standing in the way of their 5th straight Pedro trophy are the No. 9 Gee-Gees, who brought it on both sides of the ball a week ago.
Western Mustangs v. Queen’s Gaels
Richardson Memorial Stadium
September 29 @ 1:00pm
Looking to continue their reign as perennial powerhouse, the Mustangs head to Kingston to take on the Gaels. Last weekend, Western was powered to victory by Chris Merchant’s passing acumen, amassing 348 yards and six touchdowns. And on Saturday, he’ll go toe-to-toe with another of the OUA’s best signal-callers, Nate Hobbs, who is also coming off an impressive 306-yard performance.
Waterloo Warriors v. York Lions
Alumni Field
September 29 @ 5:00pm
Waterloo and York were in tough last weekend, but they’ll both be looking to rebound this Saturday when they face off at Alumni Field. The Warriors will hope for a bounce-back game from Tre Ford, along with continued success from Tyler Ternowski, while the Lions will turn to the Hunchak brother connection to guide their side to their second win.
