McMaster names former Marauder standout Kyle Quinlan co-Offensive Coordinator

In his first major move since being confirmed as McMaster Football Coach, Greg Knox is thrilled to announce that he has hired Kyle Quinlan to serve as the Marauder Co-Offensive Coordinator.   A former Hec Crighton trophy winner and the MVP of the 2011 Vanier Cup, Quinlan returns to McMaster from York University, where he spent the 2016 season as Offensive Coordinator for the Lions.

"I'm very happy to welcome Kyle back to the Marauder football family," beamed Knox. "He is a bright, hardworking and loyal young coach,  will be a tremendous resource for our current players, and I am certain he will have a positive impact on our program on and off the field."

Over a stellar five-year (2008-2012) playing career in Maroon, Quinlan was a three-time OUA All-Star and two-time All-Canadian.  He helped McMaster win OUA Yates Cup titles in 2011 and 2012, with the team advancing to the Vanier Cup both seasons, and winning the National Championship in 2011.

"I am excited and honoured to have this opportunity to come back to McMaster," exclaimed the native of South Woodslee, Ontario.  "I'm definitely looking forward to coaching beside Coach Greg Knox and representing the Marauder program in the OUA and U Sports."

In 2012 Quinlan powered McMaster to a record 21-game winning streak; he was the OUA MVP and Hec Crighton recipient,  was honoured as the Golden Horseshoe Athlete of the Year, and became the fourth McMaster athlete to receive the prestigious BLG Award as the CIS Male Athlete of the Year.

Upon graduation, Quinlan joined the McMaster coaching staff for two seasons as quarterbacks & running backs coach.  In 2015 he accepted the Head Coach position with Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI,  and then guided the Holland Hurricanes to the championship of the Atlantic Football League (AFL).  Quinlan returned to Ontario in 2016, accepting the Offensive Coordinator position at York.

McMaster's Associate Director of Athletics, Mark Alfano called this an exciting addition for the Marauder football program, saying  "Kyle was a special student-athlete that helped our program reach the pinnacle of Canadian University football in 2011. The skills and knowledge he brings as a coach and former athlete can help our football program get back to competing for the Vanier Cup year in and year out."
