OUA football to kickoff on Labour Day 2014

HAMILTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced today that the 2014 football schedule has been revised and the regular season will now begin on Monday, Sept. 1.
Athletic directors of the 11 OUA football schools voted in unanimous favour of opening the regular season on Labour Day to coincide with the adjusted dates of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) bowl games and Vanier Cup. The Mitchell and Uteck Bowl games are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 and the 50th Vanier Cup will be awarded on Saturday, Nov. 29.
Regular season games originally scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 24 will be played in week nine on Saturday, Oct. 25.
The OUA quarter-finals will take place on Nov. 1, followed by the semifinals on Nov. 8. Football fans should mark Nov. 15 on their calendars as the top two teams in the league meet in the 107th Yates Cup, presented by Pioneer Energy.
