OUA ANNOUNCES 2013 FOOTBALL ALL-ROOKIE LIST
November 5, 2013
HAMILTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce the 2013 football all-rookie list.
To no one’s surprise, the Carleton Ravens are ahead of the pack and name five athletes to the inaugural all-rookie list. The Ravens returned to OUA competition in 2013 after a 15 year hiatus. Fielding a mainly first-year squad, the Ravens went 0-8 but their rookies played major minutes and earned valuable game experience.
Both the McMaster Marauders (5-3) and the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-7) boast three all-rookie athletes. Windsor, Western, Guelph, Queen’s and Waterloo name two athletes to the list, and Toronto, Ottawa and York are represented by a single athlete.
The all-rookie list is designed to identify exceptional freshmen and to give recognition for their outstanding performances. The 2013 OUA all-rookies were selected by the OUA coaches through a nomination and vote process.
The OUA rookie of the year will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the 2013 OUA Major Awards and Yates Cup press conference.
