Finch, Lattanzio and Hajrullahu honoured as OUA football players of the week

HAMILTON, Ont. – The following student-athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending October 20, 2013.
OFFENCE: Will Finch, Western University Mustangs, Quarterback
Sophomore quarterback Will Finch made history in Western’s 50-10 victory over the York Lions, throwing for 547 yards (32 for 48) and three touchdowns. Finch’s 547 yards, the second highest single game total in OUA history, gave the Burlington native 3,047 on the year and established a new CIS single-season record for passing yards. He also set a new OUA single-season mark for completion percentage, connecting on 69.7 percent of his passes this season.
DEFENCE: Ettore Lattanzio, University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, Lineman
Ottawa's Ettore Lattanzio recorded three sacks in the Gee-Gees' 45-15 win over Windsor on Saturday. The Ottawa native was a thorn in the side of the Lancers' backfield all day, consistently bringing down quarterback Austin Kennedy. Lattanzio's three sacks accounted for 27 lost yards on the day. The 6-foot, 230-pound nose tackle finished the regular season with nine sacks, crowning him the OUA leader and CIS co-leader. Lattanzio leads the CIS with 74 lost yards due to sacks.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Lirim Hajrullahu, Western University Mustangs, Kicker
In his final regular season contest fifth-year kicker Lirim Hajrullahu scored 20 points (five field goals and five extra points), establishing himself as the CIS all-time scoring leader with 422 points. The senior didn’t stop with one record however, also setting a new OUA milestone for career field goals with 77 and tying Michael Ray’s 2003 single-season field goal record with 22 this season. Hajrullahu completed 22 of 26 field goals this season for a completion rate of 85 percent.
