Finch, Dillon named Pioneer Energy OUA athletes of the week

HAMILTON, Ont. - The following athletes have been named Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending October 20, 2013.
Each Pioneer Energy OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Energy.
FEMALE: Kirsten Dillon, York University Lions, Volleyball
York volleyball player Kirsten Dillon (Surrey, B.C.) tallied 92 assists in two matches leading the Lions to a pair of victories over Guelph and Waterloo on opening weekend. The second-year setter recorded 39 assists, 10 digs and one block in a straight sets victory over the Gryphons on Friday night, the first start of her career. She was even better the following day, putting up 53 assists as well as eight digs and two service aces in a 3-1 win over the Warriors. Dillon is the early OUA leader with 13.14 assists per set, an average of three more per set than any other player in the conference.

Sophomore quarterback Will Finch made history in Western’s 50-10 victory over the York Lions, throwing for 547 yards (32 for 48) and three touchdowns. Finch’s 547 yards, the second highest single game total in OUA history, gave the Burlington native 3,047 on the year and established a new CIS single-season record for passing yards. He also set a new OUA single-season mark for completion percentage, connecting on 69.7 percent of his passes this season. This is Finch's second OUA athlete of the week recognition this season.
