Fracas, Ahlstedt and Adeleke take home OUA weekly football honours

HAMILTON, Ont. – The following student-athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending October 6, 2013.
OFFENCE: James Fracas, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, Quarterback
Quarterback James Fracas (Waterloo, Ont.) was a force for Wilfrid Laurier in their near-upset of the No. 5 Queen's Gaels on Saturday. The second-year business major threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns – both career highs – as the Golden Hawks lost 40-34 in overtime. Fracas was instrumental in getting the game to overtime as he drove Laurier down field and tied the score with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Greg Nyhof with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
DEFENCE: Keldyn Ahlstedt, McMaster Marauders, Defensive Back
Keldyn Ahlstedt (Whitby, Ont.) was ever-present on Saturday in McMaster's 66-3 victory over the Waterloo Warriors. The second-year defensive back nabbed three interceptions and tallied four and a half tackles on the afternoon, as the Marauder defence limited the Warriors to 172 total yards and forced eight turnovers.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Tunde Adeleke, Carleton Ravens, Returner
Tunde Adeleke (Ottawa) tied a CIS special teams’ record in the second quarter of the 45th Panda Game between the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday afternoon. Adeleke returned a missed Ottawa field goal attempt 129 yards for a Carleton touchdown; the longest possible return under current CIS football rules. The economics major also picked up an interception and had three solo tackles.
