Laurier sweeps Pioneer Energy OUA athlete of the week awards

HAMILTON, Ont. - The following athletes have been named Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending October 6, 2013.
Each Pioneer Energy OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Energy.
FEMALE: Emily Brown, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, Soccer
Laurier forward Emily Brown (Waterloo, Ont.) was unstoppable over the weekend scoring seven goals as the Golden Hawks earned wins over Waterloo and Windsor. The third-year business major scored a school-record five goals in Laurier's 5-0 win over the Warriors and then netted two more in Laurier's 4-0 win on Sunday. Brown’s shooting percentage was off the charts, converting her seven goals on 10 shots. As a result of her unbelievable weekend, Brown now has 11 goals on the season and sits second in conference scoring.
MALE: James Fracas, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, Football
Quarterback James Fracas (Waterloo, Ont.) was a force for Laurier in their near-upset of the No. 5 Queen's Gaels on Saturday. The second-year business major threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns – both career highs – as the Golden Hawks lost 40-34 in overtime. Fracas was instrumental in getting the game to overtime as he drove Laurier down field and tied the score with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Greg Nyhof with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
