Jamieson, Lindsey named Pioneer Energy OUA athletes of the week

HAMILTON, Ont. - The following athletes have been named Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending September 15, 2013.
Each Pioneer Energy OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Energy.
FEMALE: Sarah Jamieson, Toronto Varsity Blues, Lacrosse
First-year midfielder Sarah Jamieson tallied 12 goals and four assists as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s lacrosse team opened their 2013 campaign with a 2-1 weekend record (Sept. 14-15). The Etobicoke, Ont., native was a force all weekend for the Blues, recording at least a hat trick in all three games. Jamieson had four points (3G, 1A) in a dominant 17-4 victory over York, with an identical stat line in a 12-9 win over McMaster. She ended the weekend with a bang, scoring six goals and adding two assists in a narrow 14-11 loss to the OUA defending champion Western Mustangs.
MALE: Jazz Lindsey, Guelph Gryphons, Football
Third-year quarterback Jazz Lindsey (Markham, Ont.) had a breakout game for the Guelph Gryphons Saturday afternoon against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. Playing on a national stage, Lindsey led his team to a 38-12 win, completing 21-of-34 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns. The Sociology student burned the Blues in the air, but also carried the ball three times for 25 yards, helping the team to their highest offensive scoring mark this season. For his efforts, Lindsey was named Porter Airlines Player of the Game. The Gryphons improve to 3-0 on the season and host the McMaster Marauders this weekend for their 2013 Homecoming Game, broadcast live on Sportsnet 360.
