Finch, Bain named Pioneer Energy OUA Athletes of the Week

HAMILTON, Ont. - The following athletes have been named Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending September 8, 2013.
Each Pioneer Energy OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Energy.
FEMALE: Erica Bain, Guelph Gryphons, Soccer
Fifth-year striker Erica Bain (Niagara Falls, Ont.) scored four goals en route to leading the Gryphons to a 3-0 week with two shutouts. The science major scored the game winning goal on Wednesday to lead the Gryphons 1-0 over the UOIT Ridgebacks. Bain followed up that performance with two goals in Guelph’s 3-0 victory over the York Lions on Saturday. She capped the week with a goal on Sunday against Waterloo. Bain is now tied atop the OUA in scoring with four goals in four games played.
MALE: Will Finch, Western Mustangs, Football
Second-year quarterback Will Finch had an outstanding day in front of his hometown crowd, leading the Mustangs to a 58-15 win over McMaster on Saturday. The Burlington native threw for 449 yards and five touchdowns while completing 26 of 35 passes (74.2%). Saturday’s win marked the second consecutive game that Finch threw for over 400 yards. The social science major has thrown for over 300 yards in each of the Mustangs first three games this season.
