FEMALE: Ally Evanyshyn, Toronto Varsity Blues, Field hockey
Fourth-year forward Ally Evanyshyn scored six goals, including two game winners and a hat trick, leading the two-time OUA defending champion Varsity Blues field hockey team to three wins at home this weekend (Sept. 21-22). On Saturday, the Burlington, Ont., native scored the game-winner in a 3-1 victory over the Western Mustangs. Evanyshyn added two more goals in the back half of Toronto's Saturday doubleheader, a 6-0 win over York. Evanyshyn's hot hands were back at it on Sunday, as the physical education major notched a hat trick in a 6-0 win over McGill. Evanyshyn leads the OUA with nine goals in five games so far this season.
MALE: Michael Clouthier, Waterloo Warriors, Baseball
Rookie first baseman Michael Clouthier (Guelph, Ont.) was unstoppable for the Waterloo Warriors baseball team this past week posting a .600 average while knocking four balls out of the park in just three games played. The kinesiology major added an impressive 11 RBI, six runs scored as well as a single, a double and three walks. Despite Clouthier’s triple crown calibre weekend, Waterloo went 1-2 in three tightly contested games with Western and Toronto. Waterloo is 7-4 to start the OUA baseball season.
