OUA announces multi-year partnership with ArcelorMittal Dofasco
The partnership, effective immediately, sees ArcelorMittal Dofasco as the presenting sponsor of a number of OUA marquee events, including the OUA football playoffs, the OUA men’s and women’s hockey championships and the OUA women’s basketball championship. Canada’s largest flat carbon steel producer will also lend its name to the OUA Football Player of the Year award and East and West Women’s Basketball MVP awards.
Set to launch in 2014-15, OUA will also produce an exciting new video feature in ‘ArcelorMittal Dofasco Play of the Week’, to air on the OUA YouTube channel.
“We are thrilled to announce this partnership with ArcelorMittal Dofasco,” said Bryan Crawford, executive director of OUA. “It is an honour to be partnered alongside such a prestigious and most respected industry leader. We look forward to launching the new initiatives and developing this relationship.”
Tony Valeri, vice president corporate communications and public affairs of ArcelorMittal Dofasco, said the partnership is a natural fit for the Hamilton, Ontario based company.
“ArcelorMittal Dofasco is built on the ingenuity and talent of our people. Much like university athletes, our people make bold statements everyday with their commitment to being world class. We’re proud to support student-athletes as they too make bold statements in their pursuit of excellence both in academics and athletics.”
“We’ve entered a partnership with both the OUA and Canadian Interuniversity Sport because it reflects our commitment to excellence and our high regard for organizations and people that strive to be the best. We’re looking forward to playing a role in ensuring that student-athletes have an opportunity to pursue their dreams. We think the strength of steel and the power of sport is a perfect fit.”
