Varsity Blues in fine form to start quest for championship trifecta
TORONTO, Ont. – The two-time defending badminton champion Toronto Varsity Blues look to be in fine form to claim their third straight OUA title as they are one of three teams to go unbeaten on day one of the championship from Ryerson’s Kerr Hall.
Toronto sits tied atop Pool A with Waterloo with four points, although the Varsity Blues have played just two of their three round robin matches thus far while the Warriors completed their pool play on Friday evening.
Over in Pool B it’s the Western Mustangs and host Ryerson Rams both with 3-0 records to claim top spot after day one. The winner of Pool B will be decided on Saturday morning as the Mustangs and Rams square off at 9:00 a.m.
Toronto breezed through both Friday matches, defeating both Waterloo and Ottawa by 9-1 scores.
