Gryphon Football Quarterback, Tristan Aboud, to Take Part in Argos Training Camp as Part of CFL’s 2024 Internship Program

GUELPH, Ont. – On Tuesday, April 29, 2024, the Canadian Football League (CFL) announced the nine U SPORTS quarterbacks from across the country who will be taking part in CFL rookie and training camps as part of the league's "QB Internship Program." Guelph Gryphons quarterback, Tristan Aboud, will join the Toronto Argonauts for their 2024 camp, with the Argos set to host their training camp once again at the University of Guelph's Alumni Stadium. The program kicks off at CFL rookie camps on May 8 and runs through training camp from May 12 to June 1. The CFL first launched the QB Internship program back in 2010, giving young, U SPORTS quarterbacks the opportunity to join CFL clubs in the leadup to the coming season to further develop their skills, participate in practices, and attend team and positional meetings. Tristan Aboud becomes the first Guelph Gryphons quarterback to take part in the program. Aboud, who majors in management economics and finance at the University of Guelph, put together an impressive rookie season in the OUA in 2024, earning a spot on the OUA All-Rookie Team after throwing for 1,451 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing 69.6% of his passes. The University of Guelph's Alumni Stadium will not only serve as the host venue for the Toronto Argonauts 2024 training camp, it will also host a CFL preseason game on Friday, May 31, 2024 with the Argos set to host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at U of G. Tickets for the May 31 game are on sale now at gryphons.ca/tickets. The 2024 CFL regular season kicks off on Thursday, June 6 as the Montreal Alouettes head to Winnipeg to face the Blue Bombers in a Grey Cup re-match.

Gryphon Football Head Coach, Mark Surya, to Participate in CFL’s Diversity in Football Program

TORONTO (April 26, 2024 ~ courtesy CFL) – University of Guelph head football coach, Mark Surya, is one of nine participants from across the country to have been handpicked by Canadian Football League (CFL) clubs for the third annual Diversity in Football Program presented by Securian Canada. One participant from a diverse cultural background will join each team's football operations department for approximately four weeks, including training camp from May 12 to June 1. Surya, who was named head coach of the Gryphon football program in December of 2023, will head to Manitoba in May to join the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the team's 2024 training camp.

Four athletes, four teams and one builder make up the 2024 Hall of Fame Class, who will be enshrined in the Gryphon Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, June 21, 2024.
