Lacrosse lose pair of games in second weekend at home

OSHAWA, Ont. – Despite home field advantage, the UOIT women's field lacrosse team was unable to earn a split in OUA action on Saturday at Vaso's Field.
 
After opening with a 17-2 loss to the Western Mustangs, the Ridgebacks fell 9-3 to the McMaster Marauders to end their weekend of OUA play at home and conference play for 2018.
 
UOIT athlete of the week Brooke Watson (Courtice, Ont.) and Julia Vinkovic (Oshawa, Ont.) both scored in the opening game of the day against the third-place Mustangs.
 
Later in the day it was Samantha Gates (Uxbridge, Ont.) and Vikovic each scoring for the Ridgebacks, with assists to Brianna Nicolas (Ajax, Ont.) and Watson - while the third goal was an own goal for McMaster.
 
Next weekend the Ridgebacks will travel to Peterborough for the OUA field lacrosse championship from Oct. 19-21 at Justin Chiu Stadium.
