Nauboris moves into second in Ridgebacks all-time points in win over Laurier

WATERLOO, Ont. – Kassidy Nauboris (Brampton, Ont.) is now second in all-time scoring for the UOIT women's hockey program.

With a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks, Nauboris passed Sarah Worthington's 83 points and now has 84 over 106 games played. She only trails Jill Morillo, who finished her career as a Ridgeback with 111 points.

The victory for the Ridgebacks is also significant as it is the first time this season the team has won back-to-back games and moves them into a tie for the final playoff spot in the OUA.

Tomorrow they can move up the standings again as they wrap up the opening half of their season on the road against the Waterloo Warriors. Puck drop is 2:30 p.m. and can be watched live at www.oua.tv.
  • The opening goal of the game was Erin Ross' (Lucan, Ont.) second of the season and came only 47 seconds into the second period after a goal-less first.
Kassidy Nauboris pushed the lead to two before the end of the period, scoring with 4:14 to go before the second intermission.
• The Ridgebacks' final goal of the game was scored on an empty net as Megan Johnston (Goderich, Ont.) benefited from Mariah Wilson (Cobourg, Ont.) pushing the Laurier defender off the puck as she left the Golden Hawk end, taking it back into the offensive zone for the goal.
• Julia Talman scored the lone Golden Hawk goal with 8:28 to go in the third.
Briar Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) made 21 saves in the victory for UOIT, her first of the season.
• Cohen Myers was the busier of the two goaltenders on the night, making 26 saves in the loss for Laurier.
  Overall Record: 7-1-7-1 (W-OTW-L-OTL)
Conference Record: 5-0-6-1
