Ridgebacks unable to match Mustangs offence in weekend split

LONDON, Ont. – After shutting out the Windsor Lancers on Friday night, the UOIT women's hockey team couldn't keep up with the No. 7 ranked Western Mustangs on Saturday.

The Mustangs dropped UOIT 5-2 in London.

Despite the Mustangs national ranking, and the fact they are defending U SPORTS silver medalists, the Ridgebacks did have Western's number last season – shutting them out in their last meeting.

Starting next weekend the Ridgebacks will return to the Campus Ice Centre for a five-game homestand, which spans from Oct.26 to Nov. 10.
Kassidy Nauboris (Brampton, Ont.) scored her fourth goal of the season with 14:05 to go in the third period, putting the Ridgebacks behind 4-2.
• Western scored three unanswered goals from Alyssa Chiarello, April Clark and Emma Suitor in the second period to go ahead 3-0 before UOIT found the back of the net.
Marissa Murphy (Kingston, Ont.) scored her first goal of the year and second of her OUA career to open the Ridgebacks scoring in the second period.
• The Mustangs had five different goal scorers, with Anthea Lasis and Jessie Sanghe rounding out their offence.
  • Tareya Webster earned the win for the Mustangs, her first of the season.
Briar Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) lost her second game of the season.
  Overall Record: 3-1-3-1 (W-OTW-L-OTL)
Conference Record: 1-0-2-1

Next Game: Friday, Oct. 26 vs. Brock Badgers • 7:30 p.m. – Campus Ice Centre
