Ridgebacks rolling with third straight road win

Box Score WATERLOO, Ont. - The UOIT Ridgebacks women's hockey team swept their Waterloo road trip, defeating the Waterloo Warriors 2-1 on Sunday afternoon after dropping Laurier the day prior.

The win is the third consecutive road win for UOIT, improving the Ridgebacks record to 6-6-0-1 (W-L-OTW-OTL). During this three-game stretch the Ridgebacks have outscored their opponents 12-4. Following a scoreless first period, the Ridgebacks dominated possession in the second, outshooting the Warriors 15-7 in the frame.

After taking the lead in the strong offensive second period, UOIT took advantage of a two-on-one opportunity in the third to secure the victory, ending the Warriors own four-game win streak.

The Ridgebacks will look to extend their hot streak after the OUA's winter break, opening the second semester of action with a home matchup versus the Guelph Gryphons. Puck drop for the Friday, Jan. 4 matchup is set for 3:30 p.m. with the game also streamed live on OUA.tv.
