NORTH BAY, Ont. – For the first time since 2015, the UOIT women's soccer program will not play an OUA quarter-final match.
Their season came to a close on Wednesday night in North Bay with the Nipissing Lakers earning a 4-0 victory in their playoff crossover match. The last time the Ridgebacks were eliminated at this point in the year was by the Carleton Ravens at home in 2015.
At halftime against the Lakers, the short-staffed Ridgebacks trailed 1-0, with Andrea Young's goal being the difference at the break.
Within the first 20 minutes of the second half a pair of goals by Abby Wroe and a single by Tori Bellar put the game out of reach for UOIT.
Goalkeeper
Olivia Tierney (King City, Ont.) made four saves in the loss, while Jess Moran made six for Nipissing in the win.
UOIT finished the year with a 7-5-4 conference record, fifth place in the OUA east.
Overall Record: 8-7-4 (W-L-D)
