TORONTO, Ont. – In dramatic fashion the Ontario Tech University men's soccer team scored twice in the final 20 minutes of Sunday's match against the Ryerson Rams to earn a 3-3 draw.
The Ridgebacks' draw, against the No. 5 ranked Ryerson Rams, was the first time Ryerson hadn't won a match this season. It was also the fourth-straight draw for Ontario Tech since losing their opening match of the season.
Henrique Rodrigues opened the scoring for the Rams in the 30
th minute, but Ontario Tech first-year midfielder
Christopher Campoli (Woodbridge, Ont.) was quick to answer with his first OUA goal in the 34
th minute.
At halftime the teams were tied 1-1.
The second half saw the Rams go ahead 3-1 on back-to-back goals by Abdallah El-Chanti in the 62
nd and 72
nd minute.
Cutting into the lead with his team-leading third goal of the season,
Fadi Salback (Bowmanville, Ont.) scored by blocking a goal kick and it bouncing into the net.
Campoli's game-tying goal came in the 87
th minute.
Nicholas Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) made three saves in the draw, while Ali Ghazanfari didn't make a save for the Rams in the match.
On Friday afternoon in Oshawa the two teams will face each other again. Kick off for the matinee match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
