WHKY | Voyageurs Fall to Warriors in Battle of Goaltenders

The Laurentian Voyageurs commenced the second half of their hockey season in a battle against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday.

Coming into this game, statistically, Waterloo had the better record of 8-5 compared to the Voyageurs 4-9.

The Voyageurs looked to start off 2019 with a win and a hope to end their current loss streak of six against Waterloo but unfortunately the cards were not on the side of the Voyageurs.

All three periods were action packed and resulted in many close scoring opportunities for both teams but the Warriors were able to capitalize on one of those chances.

In the second period Dollee Meigs scored on Shanna Dolighan on a power play opportunity that would put the Warriors in the lead. Unfortunately that would be the only goal scored in this contest and the Warriors would take tonight's matchup 1-0.

The Voyageurs offensive attack was present and challenging to defend but Alysha Letwin stopped all twenty-nine shots she was faced with, resulting in a shutout for the Warriors.

The Voyageurs will look to finally end this current seven game loss streak tomorrow against the Laurier Golden Hawks.
