Ridgebacks sweep weekend in Kingston

KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team evened their season record after defeating RMC 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The Ridgebacks earned an identical 5-2 win over the Paladins Friday night and entered action Saturday looking to complete to get back to a .500 conference record.

After surrendering the opening goal just under five minutes into the game, Ontario Tech responded with four unanswered goals, including a buzzer beater from Noah McMullin (Beaver Banks, N.S.) to end the opening frame.

Controlling the game entering the third period, Ontario Tech added an insurance marker just over five minutes in. Although the Paladins cut the deficit to two goals, an empty net late in the period sealed the victory for the Ridgebacks.

Ontario Tech now returns home next weekend when they host the No. 5 Carleton Ravens on Friday, Oct. 25.
  • Marshall Skapski opened the scoring for RMC at 4:53, with Cameron Lamport adding the second Paladins goal at 9:39 of the third.
Jake Bricknell (Port Perry, Ont.) evened the game at 14:29 of the first on the power play.
• McMullin scored his first OUA goal with a buzzer beater from the left-wing circle at 19:59 of the first period.
Austin Eastman (Lindsay, Ont.) added another power play goal at 16:31 of the second to give the Ridgebacks a 3-1 lead.
Keaton Holinaty (Hardisty, Alta.) made it 4-1 for the Ridgebacks only 5:33 into the third frame.
