Ridgebacks struggle at home against Brock Badgers

OSHAWA, Ont. – The UOIT women's hockey team fell 2-0 to the Brock Badgers Friday night at home. The game was a part of the Ridgebacks' Think Pink campaign in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and saw 112 fans.

The game started off evenly-matched in the first period, while both teams struggled to stay out of the penalty box, resulting in numerous chances at both ends of the ice.

Brock came out strong in the second period shifting the momentum when they capitalized on a Ridgebacks penalty and scoring their first goal five minutes into the frame. They would later go on to score again late in the period and hang on to the two-goal lead for the remainder of the game.

UOIT is back in action on Saturday afternoon again at home against the York Lions
  • First-year forward, Amanda Leradi earned her second OUA goal when she redirected a shot from her linemate, Carley Blomberg, giving Brock their first goal of the game.

  • Despite the loss, Ridgebacks goaltender Celine Tessier (Chapleau, Ont.) had herself a great game stopping a total of 33 shots.
