Western baseball, Toronto field hockey named OUA Teams of the Month

Winners of the OUA Teams of the Month will receive a team yoga session and a shop night at their local lululemon store.
MALE: Western Mustangs - Baseball (5-1 regular season; 4-0 playoffs)
The Western Mustangs baseball team has been named an OUA Team of the Month, presented by lululemon, after going 9-1 in the month of October en route to claiming their second consecutive Jason Guindon Trophy as OUA champions.
After a road win over the Varsity Blues to open the month, the Mustangs only blemish came on Oct. 5 in a 4-2 loss to the rival Brock Badgers. From there on, Western was unstoppable rattling off four straight wins to finish the regular season with a 14-4 record.
Western would keep it going at the OUA championship as they made quick work of the competition, going a flawless 4-0 to repeat as OUA champions, claiming the sixth title in program history. Over the course of that four game span, the Mustangs outscored their opponents 48-11, while hanging 15 runs on the opposition on two separate occasions.
Following an undefeated month of October and their third straight OUA championship, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues have been named an OUA Team of the Month, presented by lululemon.
Over the course of their final six regular season game in October, the Varsity Blues went 6-0, while outscoring the opposition 30-2. As if that isn’t impressive enough, both goals against came in the 3-2 win against the rival Gryphons with the Blues shutting out their other five opponents.
Toronto kept it going at the OUA championship with three consecutive wins to capture their 32nd OUA championship in program history. After putting away the McMaster Marauders 4-0 to open the tournament, Toronto defeated Waterloo 5-1 setting up a championship rematch with the Gryphons.
After alternating goals with Guelph for much of the game, Toronto defender Emily Ziraldo (Toronto, Ont.) put her hometown Blues up for good in the 67th minute as Toronto held on for a 3-2 victory.
