BASEBALL
On Sept. 10, the Western Mustangs will return to Labatt Park in London, Ont. for the first time since hoisting the Jason Guindon Trophy as 2016 OUA baseball champions last fall. The Mustangs will begin their title defence with a doubleheader against the visiting York Lions.
The Mustangs shocked the defending champions from Brock 9-4 in the last season’s final. However, the Badgers will have to be patient as they won’t face Western until an Oct. 2 doubleheader at George Taylor Field.
Regular season play will conclude on Oct. 7 with the top six teams qualifying for the OUA championship tournament which will be hosted by the University of Toronto Oct. 14-16 at the Ajax Sportsplex (Pan Am Ball Park).

FIELD HOCKEY
The two-time defending OUA field hockey champions, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, will open the season on Sept. 17 against the Western Mustangs. Fans of OUA field hockey will have Sept. 24 circled on their calendars as the Blues will take on the rival Guelph Gryphons in a rematch of last season’s championship.
Five games conclude the regular season schedule on Oct. 23, including the Blues taking on the crosstown rival York Lions, while the Gryphons will battle the Queen’s Gaels.
New for 2016, the OUA Field Hockey Championship, hosted by Western University, will be an eight-team seeded open tournament. The seven teams that compete in the OUA regular season (Guelph, McGill, Queen’s, Toronto, Waterloo, Western, York) will be seeded based on their regular season results. McMaster, who will not be participating in the 2016 regular season, will enter the tournament as the eighth seed. All games will be played at Western’s TD Stadium.
The 2016 CIS Field Hockey Championship will be hosted by the University of Toronto Nov. 3-6.

Each team will play a 13 game regular season schedule which will conclude on Oct. 15 as teams battle for playoff seeding.
On Oct. 21, the teams will converge on the campus of McMaster University for the 2016 OUA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
