Rachel Honderich (Toronto, Ont.) has been named OUA Peak Perfomer for the second time this year after a golden weekend at the 2016 Yonex Canadian national college-university championships in Quebec City.
Representing her hometown University of Toronto Varsity Blues, the first-year kinesiology major swept the podium, winning the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles gold medals.
In women's singles action, the Toronto, Ont. native went 4-0 winning her first three matches in straight games, before topping teammate Brittney Tam 21-8, 20-22, 21-17 in the finale.
Honderich then teamed up with Tam to run the table and claim the women's doubles title. The duo was unstoppable sweeping the competition in straight sets.
Honderich, who was a two-time medalist last summer at the 2015 Pan American Games, teamed up with Andrew Wilkinson to claim the mixed doubles gold medal.
