Gaels Young earns OUA Peak Performer of the Week
Burlington, Ont. – Dylan Young has been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Peak Performer of the Week for the period ending November 10, 2019.
Peak Performer – Dylan Young, Queen’s Gaels, Rugby
OUA MVP Dylan Young continued his standout campaign in the final game of the conference schedule, leading the Queen’s Gaels to their third straight provincial title. Young scored 12 points in a back-and-forth contest that saw five lead changes, as the Gaels earned a 27-18 victory over the Guelph Gryphons.
After touching down for the Tricolour’s first try of the game, the focus turned to another aspect of Young’s arsenal. The senior’s clutch kicking made the difference in the contest as he hit a penalty goal to give the Gaels a 20-18 lead in the 73rd minute. Young hit his second conversion of the game after Sam Ibbotson’s try in the 79th minute to seal the victory for Queen’s.
Not only did Young’s performance help the Gaels wrap up their third straight Turner Trophy, but also the team’s 28th straight OUA regular season and playoff victory.
