Male: Jordon Gauthier (Windsor, Ont.) – 5th yr. – Ryerson - Basketball
In back-to-back wins against Nipissing and Laurentian, Jordon Gauthier recorded his 500th career rebound, becoming just the fourth Rams player to surpass both 1000 career points and 500 career rebounds.
The fifth-year guard put up 12 points and six rebounds on Saturday in a 103-51 win over Nipissing, and followed it the next day with eight points and six rebounds in an 84-65 win against Laurentian.
Gauthier and the Rams are now off to a 6-0 start and are currently ranked third in the CIS Top 10.
Female: Paige Schultz (Toronto, Ont.) – 4th yr. – Toronto – Swimming
Fourth-year veteran Paige Schultz won three individual races and two relays in leading the CIS no. 2-ranked Toronto Varsity Blues women’s swimming team to the Stratten Division championship title this past weekend in London, Ont.
Schultz won gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle races and anchored Toronto’s 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle relay teams to victory, giving her a total of five gold medals from the weekend.
Her times in the 100m (55.15) and 200m freestyle (1:59.78) bettered her OUA championship winning times last February, while her 50m freestyle time of 25.52 also would have garnered the provincial title last season.
