the period ending December 1st, 2014.
Each Pioneer Energy OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a gift
card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Energy.
Male: Greg Faulkner (Kingston, Ont.) – 5th yr. – Queen's - Basketball
One of OUA’s top scorers continued to light up the scoreboard this week, leading the Gaels to back-to-back home victories over York and Algoma on Nov. 26 and Nov. 29.
Averaging 25.3 points per game this season, Greg Faulkner kept up his pace scoring 23 points in Queen’s first victory of the season, an 86-84 win against York, while adding eight rebounds and six assists in the game.
He filled up the stat sheet again on Friday against Algoma, racking up 26 points and seven rebounds as the Gaels rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to win 72-62. Faulkner was instrumental in the comeback, scoring 16 of his 26 points in the game’s second half.
Female: Emily Bidinosti (Kitchener, Ont.) – 2nd yr. – Toronto – Water Polo
Second-year forward Emily Bidinosti took home the Most Valuable Player award at the OUA Water Polo Championships this past weekend at Carleton, leading the Toronto Varsity Blues to a second consecutive OUA title.
Bidinosti scored three goals in the Blues 17-2 semi-final win over the Queen’s Gaels, and continued her stellar play in the championship game, scoring twice in an 8-2 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
Toronto completed its second consecutive perfect season, earning its sixth provincial title in school history and its fourth in the past seven seasons.
