Braeden Gee and Laura Callender Named Investors Group Athletes of the Week, Powered By 2XU

BURLINGTON, Ont. – The following athletes have been named Investors Group Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week, powered by 2XU, for the period ending October 3rd, 2017.

Male Athlete of the Week – Braeden Gee (Dorchester, Ont.) – 2nd Year – Western Mustangs

Braeden Gee provided all the offense the Western Mustangs Men’s Soccer team would need in their first of two games this past weekend. Gee scored twice in the second half to lift Western to a 2-0 win over the Windsor Lancers on Saturday afternoon at Mustang Field.

In the team’s second game, it was Gee who provided a goal in the 87th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw with the York Lions. Gee’s marker was his third of the weekend, which now ranks the second year striker first among all Mustang players with five goals this season.

Female Athlete of the Week – Laura Callender (Ottawa, Ont.) – 5th Year – Queen’s Gaels

Laura Callender, the fifth year captain for the Queen’s Gaels Women’s Soccer team, tallied four goals in the Gaels back-to-back wins at Richardson Stadium.

Netting her first career hat trick on Saturday, Callender led the Gaels to victory in their 6-1 win over Ryerson and 6-2 finish over Toronto.

After her stellar performance this weekend, the Ottawa-native stands as the leading goal-scorer in the OUA conference with nine goals in just ten games.
