Macdonald and Tynan named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Taylor Macdonald and Kirstin Tynan have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending September 15th, 2024.
Taylor Macdonald, Rugby, Western
Macdonald scored 30 points in Western’s 74-6 win over York on Sunday. The rookie fullback scored four tries and made five converts on the day. Macdonald from Victoria, B.C. has been influential from the start of her career as a Mustang, scoring in every game to date.
She currently sits second in the OUA standings with four tries, eight conversions and one penalty goal for 39 points.
Kirstin Tynan, Soccer, Queen’s
Tynan helped Queen's women's soccer team sweep their weekend home series, 3-0 over Toronto and 1-0 over Carleton. She recorded a combined seven saves for two clean sheets.
Her two clean sheets over the weekend give the North Vancouver, B.C. native four on the season.
The fourth-year goalkeeper has now appeared in 50 career games for Queen's (regular season and playoffs combined) while recording 25 career clean sheets.
Tynan has a .900 save percentage and currently sits tied for second in the OUA with only two goals against.
