McMaster guard Danielle Boiago (Hamilton, Ont.) has been named the Investors Group OUA Female Athlete of the Week after she led the No.1 nationally ranked Marauders to a pair of victories last week.
McMaster guard Danielle Boiago (Hamilton, Ont.) has been named the Investors Group OUA Female Athlete of the Week after she led the No.1 nationally ranked Marauders to a pair of victories last week.
On Saturday against the rival Brock Badgers, the Hamilton, Ont. native had a career-high 39 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in McMaster’s 94-90 overtime victory.
The All-Canadian guard almost single-handedly forced overtime as with her team trailing late she scored 15 points over the last eight minutes of the game. In the extra frame, Boiago chipped in four points and a game saving block in the final seconds.
Earlier in the week, the fifth-year kinesiology major had nine points, five rebounds, five assists, eight steals and a block as the Marauders defeated the visiting Guelph Gryphons 72-56 on Wednesday evening.
Through five games, the 5’7” guard is averaging 20.8 points per game, which ranks third in the conference.
Boiago and the Marauders will close out the 2016 portion of their schedule with a weekend trip the nation’s capital to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens.
